Why do I call Scott Hoying of Pentatonix
"Marathon Man"?
Because his runs go on for so long.
Check out this Pentatonix cover of
"How Will I Know?"
and at 1:45 you can hear for yourself.

Amazing Sam Tsui Medley
Just like I am with so many things,
I was slow to appreciate Sam Tsui.
He metaphorically blew up on YouTube,
but still I wasn't a fan.
Until a few minutes ago,
when I heard his medley of three very different songs,
one hit from each of the Sing Off judges.
Sam's performance as every sound you hear is truly impressive, but what amazed me most was the smooth and seamless blending of three unique and very disparate songs.

Fierce Tears by Kenton Chin
Kenton Chin was amazing with The Backbeats
— especially singing Katie Perry's "Firework —
but here we can hear him all by himself, singing the melody,
accompanied by harmonies sung by him
and rhythm provided by him,
on a song he wrote himself,
based on a poem by Dylan Thomas.

Somebody That I Used to Know
I know this is a personal preference,
but this is one more song where I prefer the a cappella version to the original.
And not just because I heard the remake first.
First, here's the original music video from Gotye.
And now here's the a cappella remake by Pentatonix.
Seriously reduced production values,
but I like the song so much better.

On The Rocks Friday Show - 6 April 2012
Here's another Friday concert from
the University of Oregon's On the Rocks.
I'm still jealous of the people
who get to enjoy them live,
but at least we have videos,
thanks to their YouTube channel.

Ruby Amanfu on SNL with Jack White
Check out The Collective's Ruby Amanfu singing
with Jack White on Saturday Night Live.
As usual, her very distinctive voice sounds great,
but you could hear her better
if Jack White would stop singing over her.
